“Yesterday I was clever so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise so I am changing myself” (Rumi)
My Story
Everyone has a story. Our childhoods shape our adulthoods. For better or for worse. The good news is we can bring desired changes into our lives through Coaching and Counselling.
I am of South Asian background, born and educated in Africa before emigrating to London. I cherish my multicultural roots as they have exposed me to different world views.
My first rewarding career was dentistry. I saw patients as human beings with feelings and specific needs, rather than just ‘teeth and mouths that needed fixing’. Empathy, kindness and patience became my most valuable tools for effective care. In later years, I started seeking a more holistic approach to life driven on by my own health issues. Undertaking Coaching and Counselling training, and working with suitably qualified professionals, helped me get to the root of my issues and create sustained change.
I am passionate about supporting people (18 years+), from all walks of life, to create the life they wish to live in a world that may be feeling rather challenging.
My involvement with the NHS, private and voluntary sector supporting adults (18 years+) with a range of mental, emotional, physical and spiritual challenges spans over 10 years. I bring many professional communication, organisational, group facilitation, training and leadership skills from my first career into this second one. Also, I currently volunteer regularly at a charity based in West London that provides Specialist Bereavement support to the local community.
How Do I Work?
' Whether Coaching or Counselling, my approach is Humanistic. Click HERE for more information on humanistic therapy. My role is not advisory or solution focused. It is compassionate, empathic, non-judgmental and holistic. Our sessions explore, using various creative tools, how your needs can be best addressed. You learn to connect with unconscious, out of awareness, feelings and limiting patterns of thinking and behaving.
What you 'see' can be changed. We stop accepting ‘that’s just how life is’, resigning to ‘this is my fate’ and despairing that we will never feel better again.
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate”(C.G. Jung)
I work in an integrative way bringing together diverse schools of thought, psychologies, psychosomatic theories, philosophies, neuroscience and evidence-based practices from which to create a solid foundation for change. Click HERE for more information on integrative therapy.
There are ways of having courageous conversations beyond just talking. We can enter our unconcious-self through other means such creative writing, journaling, photography, painting, music, breathwork, body movement, tapping, sound healing (singing and chanting), mindfulness practice and so much more.
I bring creativity to my work and welcome ideas you have that can make our work together effective and yes, hopefully joyful at times too.
In the end, we always work with what works for you.
